COMMUNITY SPACES LOTTERY WIN FOR WAVERLEY TENANTS ORGANISATION

Waverley Tenants Organisation in Langlee, Galashiels, is celebrating a Lottery win of £84,803 thanks to
the Big Lottery Fund and its Community Spaces scheme.

The funding will be used to build a Jubilee Playpark in Langlee, Galashiels. Welcoming the award, Gerry Moss (Chair, Waverley Tenants Organisation) said, “creating the Jubilee Playpark in our area will greatly improve the lives of all the children and their families; it will encourage healthy play and social interaction across the community”.

Big Lottery Fund Scotland Chair, Maureen McGinn, added, “I am delighted that Waverley Tenants Organisation is one of the projects to share in the first round of grants from our Community Spaces fund. Whether it’s improving a community hall, developing a local playpark or improving access to a local woodland we want this funding to bring people together to improve the places that matter to them. For local people in Langlee, Galashiels, the award of £84,803 will do exactly that by providing a meeting place at the heart of the local community for everyone to enjoy”.

Judith Cleghorn (Secretary, Waverley Tenants Organisation) announced the success of the playpark funding application to a packed assembly at Langlee Primary School. The kids cheered with delight at the fantastic news. The Playpark will be located in Beech Avenue and the WTO hope to have it completed by the start of the summer holidays.
